About the hotel

Burj Al Arab, designed by Tom Wright of Atkins to evoke the sail of a dhow, stands on an artificial island off Jumeirah Beach, linked to the shore by a private curving bridge. Opened by Jumeirah in December 1999, it is an all-suite hotel of about 200 duplex suites around a vast atrium, with a helipad and restaurants including Al Muntaha and the aquarium-lined Al Mahara. The hotel closed in April 2026 for its first major restoration, led by designer Tristan Auer and expected to take about 18 months.
