About the hotel

This downtown landmark at 905 North Florida Avenue opened in 1927 as the Hotel Floridan and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Overnight service ended in 1966 and the building closed in 1989; hotelier Antonios Markopoulos bought it in 2005, restored it and reopened it in 2012 as the Floridan Palace Hotel. After a further renovation of about $25 million it reopened in January 2024 as Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown, part of Hilton's Tapestry Collection, with The Dan, a speakeasy-style restaurant inspired by its historic Sapphire Lounge.
