About the hotel
The hotel opened on International Drive in November 1986 as The Peabody Orlando, an offshoot of the Peabody in Memphis, and an expansion completed in 2010 added the tower, raising the room count to 1,641 and adding a resort pool complex. Hyatt bought it in 2013 and renamed it Hyatt Regency Orlando, and in 2024 sold it to RIDA Development and Ares Management while continuing to manage it. It connects directly to the Orange County Convention Center, and the new owners plan a Grand Hyatt on adjacent land.
