About the hotel

The hotel grew out of Southland Center, the downtown complex Welton Becket & Associates designed for Southland Life Insurance; the original Sheraton-Dallas opened in 1959 beside the insurer's office tower, which once had an observation deck. After spells as the Southland Center Hotel, Harvey Hotel and Adam's Mark, whose owner converted all three towers to hotel use and added a convention centre in 1998, it regained the Sheraton name in 2007. With about 1,840 rooms, it sits beside a DART light-rail line near Pearl Station.
