About the hotel

Designed by John Portman and opened in 1985 at 1535 Broadway on Times Square, the hotel was built on a site that included the Helen Hayes and Morosco theatres, whose contested demolition spurred a wider movement to protect Broadway theatres. The building contains the Marquis Theatre, a planted atrium rising to The View, a revolving rooftop restaurant reopened by Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group in 2025, and nearly 2,000 rooms.
